Five years, in writing, with the exclusions listed.
Any contractor can say they stand behind their work. Here is exactly what that sentence means when we say it.
- Peeling, flaking and adhesion failure from our work
- Inspection at no charge, correction at no cost
- Exclusions listed plainly rather than buried
- Manufacturer coating warranty runs alongside ours

Boulder CO Painters provides a written 5-year workmanship warranty on painting projects. It covers peeling, flaking, blistering and adhesion failure traced to our surface preparation or application. It excludes normal ultraviolet fading, damage from water intrusion we did not cause, substrate failure such as rot, acts of nature, and surfaces we advised replacing that were coated at the owner's direction. Inspection is free and correction of covered failures is at no cost. The coating carries its own separate manufacturer warranty.
What five years actually covers
A warranty is only worth the specificity of its wording. Here is ours in plain language.
Covered
- Peeling, flaking, blistering or delamination traced to our surface preparation or our application.
- Coating failure caused by inadequate priming where priming was our responsibility.
- Adhesion failure on properly prepared and primed surfaces we coated.
- Runs, sags, holidays or application defects, which we would rather catch at your walkthrough anyway.
Not covered, and why
- Normal fading and chalking. At 5,430 feet, ultraviolet degradation of pigment over years is physics, not a defect. It is why we specify premium products on exposed elevations.
- Damage from water intrusion we did not cause. A failed roof, bad flashing or a sprinkler hitting the siding will lift any coating. Fix the water and the paint lasts.
- Substrate failure. Rotted wood, failing stucco or deteriorating masonry underneath a sound coating.
- Hail, fire, impact and acts of nature. That is an insurance claim, and we are happy to document it for you.
- Surfaces we recommended replacing and you chose to coat. We will paint it if you want, we will note it in writing, and that section sits outside the warranty.
How a claim works
- Call 720-208-5645. Same number you booked with.
- Send photos of the area if you can. It usually speeds the diagnosis.
- We come look. No charge for the inspection.
- If it is our workmanship, we correct it at no cost to you.
- If it is something else, we tell you what it actually is and what fixing it would take, honestly, even when the answer is not paint.
Two warranties, not one
Our five years covers workmanship: preparation and application. The coating itself carries a separate manufacturer warranty from Sherwin-Williams, PPG or Benjamin Moore, which covers the product. Keep your estimate and your invoice; between them they identify the exact product and the date, which is what a manufacturer claim needs.
Keeping it in force
Nothing onerous, just the obvious: do not let sprinklers spray the siding, keep gutters flowing so water is not sheeting down a wall, trim vegetation back off the paint, and call us early if you see something starting rather than after it has spread across an elevation.
Warranty questions
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
Is fading covered?
What if the problem is water, not paint?
Is the warranty transferable if I sell?
Do commercial projects get the same warranty?
How do I make a claim?
Get a written estimate
Send photos and we will price it without a visit where we can. Peeling, water damage or a landmark property gets a walkthrough first.
Every estimate names the surfaces, the preparation steps, the exact product line and sheen, the coat count, the schedule and the warranty. Nothing vague.
